Release Date: Nike Air Max Penny 1 ‘Photon Dust’
The Nike Air Max Penny 1 revival is imminent in 2022 as confirmation of its OG colourway return comes along with news of an upcoming collaboration with Social Status. Also joining the Penny push is this new beige colourway that helps cement the model’s comeback as a casual classic.
Sneakerheads have been wearing Pennies off the court since the 1990s, but this new edition certainly acknowledges that fact. Its combination of fluffy beige suede and tumbled leather inserts don’t particularly lend themselves to the rigours of high performance and high abrasion basketball. Instead, it gently suggests the wearer tread carefully to keep those pristine materials and stain-magnetic surfaces whistle clean.
Of course, in the event of any impromptu ball games, the Air Max Penny 1 is still equipped with the tech that powered its signature wearer back in the day. Air Max in the heel cushions every step and pivot, and the large foam wraps lock the foot down – assuming the shoes are laced up and cinched down. And even if performance is compromised, at least they’ll be stylish up and down the court as the ‘1 Cent’ logo flashes on the heels and the big black Swoosh pops out on the outsole.
Official images of the pair can be viewed in the gallery above, and you can expect these to drop via SNKRS on September 8.
