GOLF WANG and Converse Reunite With the Chuck 70 Owl
GOLF WANG, the streetwear label of Tyler, The Creator, have linked up with Converse again for a collaborative Chuck 70. Previous efforts with the artist have ranged from basic to bonkers, but this upcoming release sits somewhere in the middle. Its main selling point is its unique woodland camouflage print that incorporates some owl motifs on the upper, plus signature GW colours.
Beginning with a light beige upper – now apparently a 12oz blend of polyester and canvas – the aforementioned print of ‘majestic snowy owls, winter trees’ is applied using the sublimation method. What this means is the pigment is applied directly into the fabric using heat and ink, resulting in a permanent graphic that won’t chip off like a screen printed logo, for example.
Other custom elements of this Chuck 70 include the light blue foxing strips on the midsole against the glossy off-white rubber tape. This pastel shade continues GW’s trend of using distinct accent colours on their sneaker collaborations. The pair is finished off with co-branded insoles that read GOLF WANG above Converse’s typological font and chevron logo.
The GOLF WANG x Converse Chuck 70 will release directly from Converse on July 1 in limited quantities.
