Maison Margiela Introduces New Lock Bag From SS22 “Avant-Première” Collection
Maison Margiela has released its newest bag — dubbed the New Lock — that first debuted in its Spring/Summer 2022 “Avant-Première” collection.
Donning a double-sided silhouette, the purse is highlighted with a turn lock at the front, indicating whether the bag is locked or unlocked. The lock is offered in two combinations — a blank space when unlocked and “ENGAGED” text when locked; and one featuring Margiela’s numeric coding when unlocked and “IN USE” lettering when locked. The adornment is accompanied by a gold chain strap. The John Galliano-designed piece, which comes with two separate compartments for added practicality, can be styled as a crossbody or belt bag.
The New Lock is offered in two sizes and a variety of colors and materials, ranging from orange, blue, greige and black. In true Maison Margiela style, tromple l’œil motifs are applied to select styles including one with printed leather with the illusion of herringbone, along with the reverse side in printed eco fur that looks like wrinkled paper.
Take a closer look at the New Lock Bag above. The purse is now available at Maison Margiela’s stores and select retailers with prices starting at $1,740 USD.
