LEGO Technic Recreates Ferrari’s Daytona SP3

LEGO is expanding its Technic Ultimate Car Concept series with an all-new, 3,778-piece Ferrari Daytona SP3. The 1:8 scale model is packed with details and functions that pay homage to the elegant design and superior engineering of the top-tier sports racer.

Notably, the LEGO Technic car features a working 8-speed sequential gearbox with a paddle shifter, a V12 engine with movable pistons and realistic silver lacquered rims, among several other details. The buildable Ferrari Daytona SP3, which is the fourth entry in LEGO’s Technic Ultimate Car Concept series, measures just over 5.5. inches high, 23 inches long and 9.5 inches wide.

“This model is a testament to the pursuit of excellence that lies at the core of the Ferrari and LEGO Group ethos,” said LEGO Group CEO Niels B. Christiansen in a statement. “No detail has been overlooked in the design and as someone with an engineering background myself, I’m blown away by the attention to detail and precision of the model at such a small scale.”

Flavio Manzoni, Chief Design Officer at Ferrari, added, “Thanks to this outstanding recreation with LEGO elements, Ferrari and LEGO fans can now build this car piece-by-piece and feel like they are participants in the assembly process, with the opportunity to display the final model in their own homes, where they will be able to appreciate its beauty.”

In addition to the model itself, Ferrari and the LEGO Group are also offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at its design in an exclusive coffee-table-style book. The bound copy, which will see an exclusive print run of 5,000 copies, includes information on the collaborative process of conceptualizing, designing and producing the model, as well as interviews with LEGO Group and Ferrari designers.

The LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 will be available exclusively in LEGO stores globally beginning June 1 and in wider retailers beginning August 1.
