Jacquemus Announces a Nike Collaboration
Eight months ago, we reported on what we thought could be a potential collaboration between Jacquemus and sportswear giant Nike, after models in the label’s campaign were wearing sneakers that looked like the Nike Air Series 6E or 6F.
Now, the collaboration is finally official: a Jacquemus x Nike capsule collection is coming soon.
Simon Porte Jacquemus has been appointed as Nike’s new female-focused collaborative partner, and has created a collection that “reinterprets athletic women’s sportswear in a minimal way.”
“I have always been inspired by vintage ACG pieces and Nike campaigns from the 90’s. Having this imagery in mind, we designed women’s athletic wear with sensuous details and neutral colors, along with my own interpretation of the Humara – my favorite Nike shoe,” said Simon.
The Nike Humara is a relatively low-key silhouette, but it has been reinterpreted by big labels such as Supreme in the past.
“It was important for the collection to be accessible, for all bodies, and to be a natural blend of Jacquemus style and Nike performance,” the designer adds.
Nike has an impressive track record when it comes to working with the biggest names in fashion, frequently collaborating with COMME des GARÇONS and sacai, as well as names like Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH, Martine Rose, and Hiroshi Fujiwara, to name a few.
We figured out that Simon Porte Jacquemus would become a part of the Nike family after Yoon shared an Instagram photo with a handful of Nike-affiliated designers and celebrities, with the caption “CHECKS OVER STRIPES,” where the designer was featured.
The forthcoming collaboration will feature both apparel as well as footwear, and will “interweave a variety of hallmark Nike designs and unisex footwear and accessories,” which means we’ll see plenty of pieces become available once summer rolls around.
Jacquemus x Nike will launch exclusively online at Jacquemus.com, and will arrive across Nike retailers as well as online at the start of summer 2022. Keep your eyes peeled!
