Take a First Look at the Nike Air Max Flyknit Racer
Nike are introducing a new model into their lifestyle assortment called the Air Max Flyknit Racer. As the name suggests, it combines iconic Air Max technology with new-age Flyknit textile. Furthermore, the upper of this design is heavily inspired by 2012’s Flyknit Racer that debuted the tech, combined with the soles from the Air Max Pre-Day – itself a retro-inspired modern model.
It feels as though this concept should have happened years ago. Customisers have long been fusing Air Max soles with Flyknit Racer and Flyknit Trainer uppers but, until now, never have the Swoosh thought to do it themselves. The decision to use the Air Max Pre-Day unit will stir some debate among sneakerheads, however it appears Nike are committed to this new design and it’s likely more colourways will come.
Speaking of, this is the classic ‘Oreo 2.0’ combo that landed on the FK Racer back in 2015. That shoe had an absolute grip on the early days of #TeamCozy and it looks like Nike are trying to replicate that magic seven years on. Don’t be surprised if other classic colourways like the ‘Multicolour’, ‘Orca’ and others reemerge on the Air Max Flyknit Racer in the future.
