adidas Originals and long-time partner Parley Present Today’s Icons, Made for Tomorrow
Since Parley’s beginnings, the brand has set out to change the health of Earth’s oceans by removing plastic waste and recycling it to become functional textiles. With their eco-innovative materials, Parley has been able to partner with adidas to create a variety of sustainable sneakers. Now, the duo doubles-down on their environmental mission with the Parley x adidas Originals Present: Today’s Icons, Made for Tomorrow.
Adidas Originals will forever remain timeless with classic silhouettes like the adidas Superstar, the Stan Smith, the adidas Nizza, and adidas Forum. Parley builds onto the adidas Originals legacy by giving each of these silhouettes sustainable upgrades, that way they can remain an integral part of adidas well into the future. Made with yarn composed of recycled plastic and recycled polyester, the adidas Originals Spring/Summer 2022 collection prevents ocean pollution by making use of the stray plastic found on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines.
Kicking off the collection, Parley reimagines the classic Nizza silhouette with the adidas Nizza Parley Hi and adidas Nizza Parley Lo. Using a more eco-friendly approach to material construction, both pairs have wrapped webbing which is constructed layer-by-layer to diminish waste in the production process. As for the rest of the collection, we see eco-innovative upgrades on the adidas Superstar, adidas Stan Smith, adidas ZX 8000, adidas Forum Mid, adidas Forum Low, and adidas NMD_R1. Parley also presents two women’s exclusives with the adidas Forum Bold W and the adidas Nizza Platform W. Each sneaker keeps it classic with sleek black and white colourways, a nod to adidas’ signature Three-Stripes.
The adidas Originals by Parley collection will be available at adidas Concept Stores or online from Earth Day, Friday 22 April with prices ranging from R1699 to R2799
