Jennie Joins Dua Lipa in Celebrating CHANEL’s New 25 Handbag
Earlier this year, Dua Lipa was named the face of CHANEL‘s new 25 handbag, starring in the house’s latest campaign. Now, BLACKPINK’s Jennie joins her as the next face, marking the latest iteration of the 25 campaign.
Shot by Gordon von Steiner, the first campaign film took inspiration from the energy of music videos and followed Lipa on a day in her life in New York. Captured amidst Manhattan’s bustling streets, the singer-songwriter sings along to “She Drives Me Crazy” by the Fine Young Cannibals. Jennie is also captured by Steiner for the next phase, singing along to the same iconic song.
“I love that song. It’s such an anthem from the ’90s, and I’ve always loved that era, probably because that’s when I was born. I find it’s often a time I go back to whether it’s fashion, music or film. I find it so inspiring. This song feels like the perfect match for that freedom of expression and allowed me to dive into a fun, raw, rebellious emotion. New York really lends itself to that sort of ‘stomp-your-feet’ energy,” Lipa notes in a press release. “With this iconic 90s pop song, it feels like a short music video capturing the streets of New York. I hope everyone who sees the campaign feels a sense of freedom and positive energy,” Jennie adds.
“For me, this campaign is about the freedom of movement, self-expression and embracing that on-the-go energy. It’s powerful, yet playful, and above all, joyous. It’s a similar spirit that I share as an artist, so it immediately resonated with me on many levels,” the singer continues.
The campaign showcases the new CHANEL 25, crafted with the house’s signature quilting, interlaced chain and multiple pockets, arriving in three varying sizes. “I’m obsessed with this bag,” Lipa says, adding “It’s the perfect kind of bag for me as someone who’s always on the move and likes to carry around everything, especially because it’s got these great pockets for all my favorite things. There’s a place for my books, a place for my sunglasses, maybe a notebook or two, and even a place for my crystals. It’s just the perfect everyday bag!”
Jennie adds, “The CHANEL 25 handbag symbolizes freedom of movement. It adapts to my various situations and lifestyles, offering flexibility and comfort while allowing me to express my unique style in a different way. CHANEL gives me positive inspiration and energy as someone who loves fashion.”
To celebrate the campaign, Lipa and Jennie are captured in a series of stills by David Sims. Take a look at the new visuals above and head to Chanel’s website for more information about the 25 bag.
