Ayo Edebiri Gets Invited To John Malkovich’s Creepy Cult in A24’s ‘Opus’
Following the release of its highly successful Babygirl, A24 releases the trailer for the Opus movie.
Released January 21, the Opus trailer features actor Ayo Edebiri who plays a journalist who accidentally entered a cult. Yes, you read that correctly.
The description reads: “A young writer (played by Edebiri) is invited to the remote compound of a legendary pop star (John Malkovich) who mysteriously disappeared thirty years ago. Surrounded by the star’s cult of sycophants and intoxicated journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.”
The film is set to release on March 14, 2025, and already has Edebiri fans losing it. “Ayo Edebiri, I will be there” one commented while another joked, “I’m seated. The theater employees are scared and asking me to leave because it’s ‘not March yet’ but I’m simply too seated.”
Also featured in the star-studded film are renown actors John Malkovich, Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Stephanie Suganami and Tatanka Means.
The film is seemingly already sparking a debate on parasocial relationships. “There’s no cult, like celebrity” is such a cool concept to explore in a film, because indeed, the things fans do for celebrities is just straight up weird sometimes,” another commented. “I dont actually know if this film is going that direction, but it would be cool!”
