‘The Matrix Resurrections’ First Trailer Reunites Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss

Warner Bros. has dropped off the long-awaited trailer for The Matrix Resurrections, the highly anticipated fourth installment to The Matrix franchise.

The visual features the continued story of Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), who seemingly find themselves stuck in a simulated reality once again. In the opening segment, Neil Patrick Harris appears in the role of Neo’s therapist, delving into the triggered psyche of his client during an office visit. “Am I crazy?” Neo asks, as his Thomas Anderson alter ego. “We don’t use that word in here,” Harris’ character responds.

The trailer for Lana Wachowski’s newest entry in The Matrix franchise also introduces what appears to be a young Morpheus (depicted by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who lets Neo choose between a red and blue pill before saying it’s “time to fly.” The remainder of the video showcases classic Matrix chaos, featuring gun-drawn battles, fiery street chases, and bold rooftop dives atop a version of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit.”

Last month, the visual was first unveiled at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, before being released to the public on Thursday.

The film employs Matrix veterans Reeves, Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. Joining the franchise for The Matrix Resurrections are Abdul-Mateen II, Harris, Andrew Caldwell, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Ellen Hollman, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Christina Ricci, Max Riemelt and Brian J. Smith.

The Matrix Resurrections will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.
