FKA twigs and On Announce “The Body Is Art, Part II”
Rising performance-wear company On first announced FKA twigs as its newest Creative Partner back in April 2024, specifically looking after its new training vertical. Tapping into twigs’ avant-garde approach to dance and choreography (evidenced by her performance at Valentino’s Paris Fashion Week show), the partnership sees the artist supporting high-performance pieces that enable a wide range of movements.
In September 2024, the duo dropped a new training campaign, introducing the Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Inspired by the theme “The Body Is Art,” the campaign sees twigs take the lead in creative direction, focusing on the importance of movement as a form of art and self-expression. The follow-up, “The Body Is Art, Part II” aims to redefine training as an art form, debuting On’s Spring/Summer 2025 training collection.
“I’m drawn to bodies that do something — bodies shaped by purpose, by movement, by life,” twigs explains in a press release. “In ‘The Body Is Art Part II’, strength becomes art. It’s about pushing personal boundaries, redefining beauty through function, and celebrating what the body can do. Movement isn’t just performance; it’s expression, power, and transformation.
Directed by twigs along with photographer Jordan Hemingway, the follow-up campaign takes us to a raw, industrial warehouse in London that spotlights Paralympic wheelchair athlete Léa Bayekula, IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Michelle Mensah and dancer and movement director Nana Yaa — each of whom embody twigs’ unique approach to training.
