Louis Vuitton Taps Takashi Murakami 20 Years After Their Debut Collaboration
Louis Vuitton is ringing in the New Year with a splash of Y2K nostalgia, releasing a new rendition of its iconic collaboration with Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami.
The Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection is headlined by Zendaya and rolls out in two drops — arriving this coming January and March. The capsule will feature over 200 pieces, from signature City Bags to playful accessories like silk scarves, sunglasses, sneakers, perfume bottles and even a skateboard. A standout feature is the Monogram Multicolore, with the classic “LV” and floral motifs reimagined in 33 vibrant colors on iconic bags like the Keepall and Coussin.
To set the tone, Louis Vuitton unveiled an official campaign video featuring Takashi Murakami himself. In the clip, the artist sends a note from Japan to Zendaya in New York, marking the collection’s highly anticipated launch.
The global rollout kicks off with immersive pop-up activations in seven major cities, including London, New York, Seoul and more. These activations will offer interactive experiences like cafés, cinemas and vending machines. Buyers of collection pieces can grab quirky prizes, including stickers, Tamagotchis and trading cards.
The Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection officially launches worldwide on January 1 on Louis Vuitton’s website, with a second drop slated sometime in March — so, keep your eyes peeled for updates.
