Event Recap: ASICS SPORTSTYLE HOSTS FIRST-EVER LOCAL EVENT
ASICS Sportstyle celebrated its inaugural local event with a dynamic evening at the Wonderland Film Studios in Cape Town. This landmark occasion marked a fusion of culture, style, and community, attended by 55 esteemed guests, including friends of the brand and prominent members of the media.
The event commenced with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Guests were greeted with drinks sponsored by Glen Morangie, setting the tone for a casual yet sophisticated gathering. The ambiance was further elevated by the captivating tunes of Alex Michelson, creating an ideal backdrop for the evening’s festivities.
Kanyedre, a well-known MC and SuperSport host, and a cherished friend of the brand, guided guests through a series of delightful surprises. The first was the unveiling of a second section of the venue, which revealed an intimate, beautifully decorated space. This area was specially arranged for an ikebana class, complemented by matcha-tinis sponsored by Ceremony Matcha. This thoughtful touch paid homage to ASICS’ Japanese heritage, adding a unique and authentic element to the event.
Sneakers on display ranged from the latest release Skyhand OG to a sneak peek of the upcoming Kinetic, set to launch in August 2024. The classic Kayano 14 and Gel-NYC were also showcased. Guests were wowed by the meticulous attention to detail, material quality, and vibrant colourways, highlighting ASICS’ commitment to innovation and style.
This event was a true reflection of ASICS’ brand motto “Sound Mind, Sound Body.” By integrating elements of art, culture, and wellness, ASICS emphasized the importance of holistic well-being. The ikebana class encouraged mindfulness and creativity, while the matcha-tinis provided a refreshing and health-conscious beverage option, aligning perfectly with the brand’s philosophy.
The celebration continued into the night with energetic performances by DJs Sir Vincent and DJ Loyd, ensuring the event concluded on a high note with vibrant music and great vibes.
