Yohji Yamamoto and Playboy’s New Collection Looks to Make Luxury Fashion Accessible
Hot on the heels of its conceptual WILDSIDE chapter, Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto has tapped Playboy for a collaborative capsule that blends classic Playboy iconography with Yamamoto’s artistic interpretation, penned in collaboration with Harumi Yamaguchi.
The new collection, which falls under Yamamoto’s S’YTE sub-brand, looks to make luxury garments more accessible by using fewer prestige fabrics to create more realistic and maintainable asking prices. With 10 pieces included in the capsule, highlights include the classic blazers and balloon pants that create an oversized silhouette with a premium edge. Playboy has also sprinkled its personality across the collection: see the black and white monogram print co-ord sets that include multiple hand-painted Playboy sketches.
A selection of Yamaguchi’s old illustrations are included the collection. His designs have been printed onto a variety of long and short-sleeved T-shirts, button-up camp-collar shirts, monogram co-ords, track jackets, and more. Rounding off the collection, Playboy has introduced new female graphics atop a range of simple, co-branded shirts and crewneck tees.
