Gucci Explores Its Whimsical Side With Online-Exclusive “Lovelight” Collection
Alessandro Michele‘s world is whimsical, free-spirited and gleeful, and now this comes together for Gucci‘s latest online-only collection, “Lovelight.”
The comprehensive collection comprises men’s and womenswear, although in the house’s typical form this is merely a suggestion. As a result, “Lovelight” is a range that explores the “joyful expression of heritage” while also offering contemporary cuts for all.
As Gucci explains, the collection “[expands] on the exploration of geometric codes from past collections — diamond-shaped patches of leather are stitched together to create a colorful design recalling one of the house’s emblematic symbols.” This is most notable on the quilted Bamboo 1947 top handle bag, which sees love heart-shaped motifs in baby blue embedded into the white leather top base, and a bottom section made from multicolored rhombus quilting.
But “Lovelight” is more than just this, as a hooded nylon jacket is presented in a gray and yellow comet print with the signature webbing and a three-dimension “GG” motif contrasting the astronomical theme. A linen T-shirt, cut boxy and oversized, is embroidered with a bouquet of flowers, while cotton trousers complement this top with its embroidered rear pocket.
Chambray denim shorts are finished in Gucci’s much-loved wide-leg pleated look and sport a custom Gucci motif that combines love hearts with clouds on the rear, while a zip-up hoodie, camp-collar bowling shirt and track pants have been doused in an antique smattering of tea set pieces.
Contrastingly subtle Screener sneakers also make an appearance, while the women’s slingback horsebit heels and Screener style are covered in a glittery makeover. Rounding out this collection is a Diana tote bag, a small selection of jewelry and shoes, and plenty more womenswear fit to recreate any Harry Styles-esque tour look.
