The Air Jordan 1 Low “Hologram” Celebrates Michael Jordan’s Achievements
Jordans may be ubiquitous in the scene, but younger sneakerheads may not realise there’s a man behind their favourite sneakers. This new Air Jordan 1 Mid plans to teach them early, as this kids’ pair straight up has a big hologram of Michael Jordan on the side.
Starting with the familiar black and white combo (something the new generation has seemingly suddenly started calling ‘Panda’ – please stop), the lateral sides of these AJ1s depict a young MJ in full flight. Interestingly enough, he is not in the iconic ‘Jumpman’ pose that came to represent the brand. While the official shots don’t clearly show it, it looks like the other side of the hologram changes to a cartoon version of the GOAT, with additional patterns behind him.
On the design front, these tiny Jays naturally have to make some compromises. There’s only enough room for six eyelets (versus the nine of adult high-cut pairs), but it gets a snazzy heel pull tab to help little hands put them on. The tongue logo is finished in purple – perhaps it’s ‘Concord’, which would be a nice detail.
The Air Jordan 1 Low “Hologram” is expected to arrive in GS sizing in the coming weeks.
