Nike’s Air Kukini Drops in “Triple Black”
Y2K was a fascinating time in the world of sneakers. Brands were on a futurist tip, willing to experiment, explore and put conceptual designs that would’ve never seen the light of day in years past into construction – and at Nike, these releases were coming from the famous Alpha Project. From runners to basketball shoes, the five dot-equipped line gave us some truly wacky styles, and one of those, the Air Kukini, is comin’ back in a ‘Triple Black’ colourway.

Dressed in a tonal black colour scheme, this Kukini is perfect for urban ninjas, futurists and techwear geeks alike! It’s built of neoprene, mesh and leather, and features a laceless fit system with a TPU overlay that reacts to the wearer’s foot, stretching as necessary to ensure a snug but not tight feel. Jet-black Air Max units supply heel cushioning, and branding is kept to a minimum save for the small Swoosh on the tongue and the Alpha Project’s famed five dot graphic on the lateral heel. Fun fact: the Kukini was designed by Sean McDowell, the designer also responsible for famous models like the Air Max Plus and Shox TL.

Take an official look at the Air Kukini “Triple Black” above and expect the pairs to arrive at the Nike website and select retailers in the coming weeks.
