New Balance 550 Unveiled in a Duo of Lakers-Friendly Colourways
New Balance’s risen-from-the-catacombs 550 – a late 1980s basketball shoe that’s gone from totally obscure to lifestyle favourite over the last two years – has been enjoying a fruitful 2022, and just days after releasing as a key piece of the ‘Conversations Amongst Us’ pack, it’s dropped in a duo of white, yellow and blue colourways that nod to its origins as a ‘team bank’ silhouette.
Each pair boasts a white leather upper split between smooth and perforated panels. This crisp base serves as a perfect backdrop to the colourful accents used. One pair uses a rich sport blue around the collar, tongue, heel and forefoot, then adds a slight dash of yellow on the branded hits and heel. Save for retaining blue heel hits and midfoot foxing, the other pair flips the script by using yellow prominently and switching blue to an accent role on its own branded hits. Colourful outsoles finalise each look.
No release info has been announced just yet, but New Balance is set to drop these shortly.
