BBC Reunites With Reebok for a Zig Kinetica II “Digi-Camo” Collaboration
Billionaire Boys Club and Reebok are adding to their healthy list of collaborations with a new variant of the Zig Kinetica II dubbed ‘Digi-Camo’. This nickname becomes apparent as the pattern serves as the primary graphic treatment of these technical kicks.
The Zig Kinetica II is the second generation of Reebok’s design equipped with its namesake Zig technology, plus Floatride Fuel cushioning. Made to move, the flowing sole is joined to equally organic upper panelling, which is covered in the pixellated camouflage pattern. Designed to obscure, this sublimated graphic also integrates BBC’s astronaut motif, plus the brand mantra of ‘wealth is of the heart and mind, not the pocket’ on the heel. Tonal brown, tan and olive colour-blocking and a looped lace system plays into the military-influenced aesthetic, but rest assured, these shoes come in peace.
‘The BBC Zig Kinetica II was inspired by the quality and functionality of tactical gear,’ said BBC. ‘We wanted to bring some of those functional elements to this shoe through details such as speed lace hooks, as well as nylon pull tabs at the heel and tongue for ease of accessibility. The Digi-Camo comes from our archives, and we thought it would be the perfect pattern for this utilitarian silhouette.’
The BBC x Reebok Zig Kinetica II ‘Digi-Camo’ releases on May 6 via BBC, before a wider drop on May 13.
