Bright Red Detailing Reimagines the COMME des GARÇONS PLAY x Converse Chuck 70
The ‘Converse with the hearts’ are back – and this time they’ve got shiny red midsoles! Comme des Garcons Play and Converse’s signature Chuck 70s in both high and low-top form have become ubiquitous over the last decade, and their latest chapter is a four-pack of fresh-yet-familiar styles with miniature hearts and glistening lower halves.
Chuck 70 High and Chuck 70 Ox alike feature black or cream canvas uppers, adorned with a single small heart on the lateral side, and, on the high-top iteration, a familiar Converse All-Star badge on the medial side. This heart graphic, designed by artist Filip Pagowski, is a constant of CDG x Converse colabs. In the past, it’s been presented in a wide-ranging variety of ways that include everything from giant, cut-off iterations to repeating prints, but here it retains an original, subtle-by-comparison style that’s overshadowed by the above-mentioned midsoles.
These midsoles are built of high-gloss red rubber that provides a striking contrast with each pair’s eggshell-toned rubber toe cap. A foxing stripe matches the colour of the canvas upper, while a reinforced heel overlay supplies further contrast to bring the look together. Co-branded insoles round off each pair.
If you need a fresh pair (or two, or three, or four) of the ‘Converse with the Hearts’ in your collection and love the look of the red midsole, you can expect all four styles to drop via the Converse webstore come April 5
