THE ALL NEW RENAULT KIGER: DESIGNED TO TURN HEADS
The all new Renault Kiger has made its début in SA. This compact SUV is destined to change the face of the local SUV market, with its resolutely modern and dynamic design, and a suite of features to match.
The all new Renault Kiger strongly represents the latest design evolution pioneered by the Head of Group Design, Laurens Van Den Acker.
In the words of Laurens:
‘’True to the promise of the show-car, Renault Kiger is a robust, dynamic and generous SUV. Armed for travel in the urban jungle we also designed it for escape and confront any type of roads with serenity. Kiger has a SUV coupé look, but its long wheelbase promises great habitability and volume on board. Its “smart cabin” has been specially designed to encourage sharing and conviviality.’
The new Renault Kiger combines the best Renault has to offer: expertise in innovative cars, matched by in-depth knowledge of customer needs, seeking style, dynamism, newness and distinction.
The all new Renault Kiger is a real SUV with sporty and muscular SUV styling. With its distinct athletic design, the new Renault Kiger combines urban modernity with agility, whichever road it takes. The Renault Kiger’s design was inspired by the Kiger show-car, which was unveiled at the end of 2020.
A sculpted front end enhances the vehicle’s energetic personality. The spoilers boost the design with their pronounced shoulder lines, while the back sills and wheel arches provide further protection. The higher ground clearance (205mm) and functional roof bars heighten the vehicle’s shape and completes its bold SUV look. The higher trim levels boast 16” black diamond cut alloys which enhance the sporty and stylish look of the all new Renault Kiger. The big black arches around the wheels make the body look bolder and sturdier. The 2,500mm long wheelbase offers increased stability on any type of road while optimising the space inside the car, providing optimum comfort for passengers and a boot volume of 405 L, unrivalled within its segment.
The roof of the new Renault Kiger boasts dynamic contours with sleek and taut lines in contrast to the more muscular and solid lower part.
The Renault Kiger is equipped with several features to heighten the sporty look of the vehicle. The front grille with 3D graphic finish with honeycomb shaped chrome effects is a perfect example, while the aluminium finish skid plate further enhances the sporty rear bumper.
The modern and striking front end is accentuated by Renault’s signature LED daytime running lights. The highly distinctive lower part features striking tri-octa LED PURE VISION headlamps, which give the impression of modernity and sophistication.
The tail light units with glossy black inserts are very distinctive within the segment, outlining the new Renault Kiger’s rear double C-shaped lighting signature, with LED tail lights.
The functional roof rail bars (with a 50kg load capacity) further elevate the aesthetics of the Renault Kiger giving the vehicle a more imposing and sportier look.
The top of the range (Intens) derivative is distinguishable by a two-tone body colour. The new Renault Kiger comes in 6 exciting body colours – Cool White; Planet Grey; Moonlight Grey; Mahogany Brown Caspian Blue and Radiant Red.
As much as the sub 4 metre all new Renault Kiger is a compact SUV, it’s a surprisingly spacious vehicle. Thanks to the CMFA+ platform DNA, the new Renault Kiger offers segment leading roominess, cabin storage and boot space. The interior has been designed to perfectly combine the sturdiness of an SUV with sophistication and technological prowess.
The new Renault Kiger provides unprecedented comfort and roominess for all occupants.
The Renault Kiger offers segment-leading space – 710mm between seats. At the rear, the new Renault Kiger provides second row legroom of 222mm and elbow room of 1413mm. The height of the driver’s seat offers a commanding driving position for optimum driving comfort.
The Renault Kiger sets a very high standard when it comes to load capacity, offering the best boot space in the segment – 405 L which can extend to 879 L with the second row of seats folded down 60/40.
The new Renault Kiger offers optimal storage space, with a whole host of clever storage compartments for ultimate convenience, with a total onboard capacity of 29 L, including four 1-litre water bottle holders and two cup holders. The central armrest has a deep storage space of 7.5 L while the glove compartment has an unprecedented volume of 10.5 L, with the upper and lower glove box capacity totalling 14.9 L.
The all new Renault Kiger offers a ‘’smart cabin’’ combining technology, functionality and roominess. Its new technology makes for driving ease and driving pleasure.
The higher centre console features an 8’’ floating touchscreen with wireless smartphone replication for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This feature allows passengers to connect their smartphones seamlessly and to access the special driving and multimedia apps. Passengers can select five permanent shortcuts for faster access to apps and features. The system not only offers voice recognition through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but also Bluetooth connectivity that can pair up to five devices, a USB socket for faster charging and a built-in MP4 video player.
The all new Renault Kiger’s interior has been specifically designed for ultimate convenience. The chiselled curves create the impression of a floating cockpit, accentuated by piano-style control dials and suspended aircon controls.
The 7” multi-skin reconfigurable TFT cluster further enhances the modernity of the cabin space.
The higher spec models offer a multi-sense driving experience as well as ambient lighting. The multi-sense feature enables the selection of different driving modes for a completely different driving experience – i.e., Normal, Eco or Sport mode. NORMAL mode offers an optimum driving experience for city driving conditions. It also provides useful information like real-time and average fuel consumption all in a blue colour look. ECO mode provides a drive which is inclined towards economic driving practices, changing the overall appearance of the TFT to green. SPORT mode provides a drive experience which is full of fun and sportiness, with crisper engine response and faster shifting. The overall TFT screen turns to red with quick information of acceleration gauge, torque, power ratios etc.
The new Renault Kiger boasts a brand new, quality sound system: the auditorium 3D sound system by Arkamys, with eight onboard speakers (four 6,5” speakers, four tweeters). The system automatically adjusts sound volume according to the speed of the vehicle.
A handsfree smart access card allows for everyday convenience, enabling doors to be opened and closed automatically, and the engine to be started without a key.
The upper spec’d all new Renault Kiger also offers a reverse camera with guiding lines for greater visibility and precision when reversing or manoeuvring into a parking bay, with a turning radius of 5 metres thanks to its 2500mm wheelbase.
The new Renault Kiger boasts additional innovative features, including automatic aircon (which can still be adjusted manually via the aircon control), white ambient lighting in the passenger compartment, backlit steering wheel controls (with access to the onboard computer menu, speaker volume, phone and radio features, and voice recognition), and a first-in-segment PM2,5 Clean Air Filter, fitted into the ventilation system to ensure good air quality inside the vehicle.
