Vans x Wade Goodall Collection Reflects the Pentacoastal Star’s Frenetic Creativity
When it comes to unbridled creativity and a nonconformist approach both in and out of the surf, few have the gravitas of Australian artist and Vans pro surfer Wade Goodall, the creative phenom behind the groundbreaking surf-cinema epic, Pentacoastal. That’s why Vans is thrilled to announce its third collection with Wade, a head-to-toe offering featuring his original dark-yet-playful artwork paired with pops of color.

While it’s hard to put a label on his creative expression —whether that’s riding a wave or hand drawing thousands of frames of illustration for a surf film— it’s no secret that Wade approaches everything with a unique style and an unparalleled attention to detail. His most recent collection for Vans is no different, with highly functional, timeless styles adorned with detailing that is unmistakably Wade.

“With my new range, I really wanted a combination of clean design with art and customization,” Wade said. “The shoes are hard-wearing with bonus primary color lace packs so that people can have fun and make them their own. Whatever mood or phase they are in, they can be themselves. Prints and embroidery of my watercolor paintings are throughout, and then there’s some classic, clean pieces. It is a range that is like me: at times toned down, happy doing my own thing and sometimes covered in paint.”

Wade’s obsession with functionality and dynamic design is on full display with the Vans x Wade Goodall Destruct SF. This pièce de résistance has an all-black aesthetic with rugged rubber reinforcement on high-wear areas that makes it nearly indestructible. Leather uppers, white contrast stitching, and bold yellow laces elevate Wade’s Destruct SF, making it one of the most unique workhorse shoes around.
Evoking the boots worn to frenzied basement shows of the early British punk scene, Wade’s Slip-On SF is an all-black suede and leather shoe with white contrast stitching and a colorful embroidery that pops off the vamp. The Destruct SF and Slip-On SF offer a removable UltraCush footbed for all-day comfort.

The Vans x Wade Goodall collection is available now at select Vans retailers and Vans.co.za.
