Instagram May Soon Allow Users to Post From Their Computer
Instagram is testing out a new feature that will allow users to post photos from their computers, a long-requested feature currently missing from the social media site’s web browser version.
Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, first spotted the feature on Thursday and posted screenshots to Twitter.

The screenshots appear to show that the feature will allow users to tag a location, add alt text, apply filters and edit photos directly from their computer—all the things that users can only currently do in the Instagram mobile app.
“We know that many people access Instagram from their computer. To improve that experience, we’re now testing the ability to create a Feed post on Instagram with their desktop browser,” a Facebook company spokesperson told HYPEBEAST.
The feature isn’t available for everyone just yet, though Navarra predicted that Instagram’s decision to potentially add desktop posting is part of a bigger plan to compete with the likes of TikTok and YouTube. It would also subvert the usage of third-party platforms to upload photos via desktop.
