A Closer Look at NOT A HOTEL’s DROPHAUS Set for Louis Vuitton FW26
For the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2026 menswear show, creative director Pharrell Williams transformed the runway into a visionary architectural statement through a collaboration with the Japanese design firm NOT A HOTEL. Staged in a custom pavilion within the Jardin d’Acclimatation, the centerpiece was a minimalist, prefabricated residence titled DROPHAUS. Positioned atop a grassy mound and surrounded by a manicured garden with Japanese-style terraces, the home reimagined the runway as a lived-in environment rather than a traditional stage.
The design of DROPHAUS is inspired by the organic form of a water droplet, a motif that fluidly integrates the structure into its lush surroundings. Its primary architectural feature is a series of curved, compressed glass walls that encircle the house, effectively blurring the boundaries between the interior living spaces and the exterior garden. Topped with a large pyramidal roof, the prefabricated timber structure creates a sense of “timeless future living” that emphasizes function and human need over ornamental excess.
Inside, the residence was divided into functional rooms, including a living-dining area, a bedroom, and a dedicated listening room, all furnished with Williams’s bespoke “Homework” furniture collection. These pieces were designed with a “ten percent imperfection” principle, featuring craggy lines and irregular forms that serve as a tactile homage to the human hand. The entire setting was further immersive, permeated by a custom fragrance by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud that captured the olfactory notes of the surrounding garden, reinforcing the show’s focus on a holistic lifestyle experience.
