Vans Sets Sail With the Doobie Skate Old Skool Net
French skater (and fisherman) Victor “Doobie” Pellegrin has reimagined the Vans Old Skool with a treasure chest of mythical design details.
Dubbed the Doobie Skate Old Skool Net, the design houses a unique mesh stash pocket inside the tongue to secure your loot, a water-resistant suede upper, ultra-durable laces, and 10-ounce canvas side panels. Additionally, illustrator Todd Francis designed a custom footbed for the silhouette.
The sneaker arrives alongside a campaign video shot in a dreary Cornish fishing town, titled “Ye Tale of Doobie.” Directed by Jack Lammas and Ed Hubert, the visual sees Doobie cast his net onto the newly minted shoes, earning him the title of “World’s Finest Fisherman.” Notably, Doobie’s friends Harry Lintell, Helena Long, Notis Aggelis, Max Pack, Merryn Garner, and Michael Boardman make cameos in the short.
“Ahhhh the tale of Doobie, once a humble skateboarder from a small French village, now king of the high seas with his own colourway of the Vans Skate Old Skool,” the brand wrote in the YouTube description. “But this isn’t just any shoe; this is the mythical Doobie Skate Old Skool Net, a new take on the classic skate staple.”

The Doobie Skate Old Skool Net will become available to shop online and at select European skate shops on April 24. Pricing details are not yet available. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
