ASICS Adds the GEL-SEKIRAN to Its Arsenal
ASICS is one of the big names responsible for the footwear scene’s technical runner resurgence in the past few years. Leaning on its expansive archive of ’00s and ’10s models, the brand has not only revisited retro looks, but reimagined them through mash-ups like this year’s GEL-KINETIC FLUENT. In continuation of this approach, ASICS has put together the GEL-SEKIRAN.
Combining references to three running shoes — the GEL-NIMBUS 13, GEL-CUMULUS 12, and GEL-CUMULUS 17 — the GEL-SEKIRAN offers a familiar-yet-fresh flair with its sleek, layered upper. One of two debut colorways is a “Black/Waterfall” look that sees a black mesh joined by a blue gradient at its first set of overlays and metallic silver present across the brand’s signature stripes. A similar take on the shoe comes from the “White/Lapis Lazuli Blue” pair, which begins in white and then transitions to a blue to white gradient before being rounded out by silver accents.
At the time of writing, ASICS has quietly dropped the GEL-SEKIRAN early via its Australian website at a starting price of $230 AUD (approx. $137 USD). However, we do not know when the new model will be making its global debut. Stay tuned for updates, including the unveiling of additional colorways, as the new model is expected to play a role in the brand’s lifestyle lineup this year.
