Woolworths Kicks Off the Summer Season with an Exclusive Summer Escape Beauty Event
Woolworths hosted its first-ever beauty lifestyle event, Summer Escape, on Saturday, 2 November in Johannesburg. The exclusive event featured a lineup of iconic brands, providing beauty enthusiasts and industry insiders the opportunity to immerse themselves in the ultimate collection of skincare and makeup products.
Woolworths showcased its own private-label brand WBeauty alongside a selection of local and international luxury beauty brands, offering guests the opportunity to experience these products, while experts provided beauty and skincare tips and advice. All the while being entertained by South African artists Lelowhatsgood, the audio collective Homie. Lover. Friend, and internationally acclaimed DJ, DBN Gogo.
Woolworths’ Summer Escape was carefully curated to showcase the retailer’s extensive beauty offering and included bespoke zones dedicated to fragrance, foundation, skincare, and colour. The WBeauty brand combines the trademark Woolies quality with sustainability, featuring 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben-free products. Alongside WBeauty, a selection of brands, including Chanel, Gucci, and Molton Brown, presented their latest product ranges.
Julie Maggs, General Manager at Woolworths, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying,
As a leading retailer and trusted beauty destination, we’re excited to expand into experiential beauty retail. This event isn’t just about showcasing our world-class product offering, but about celebrating the Woolworths brand and what makes us different.”
“Today is about creating a deeper connection. We want our guests to experience firsthand the care and thoughtfulness behind our products. We’re not only showcasing our extensive range, at Woolworths Beauty we invite our customers to share in a journey of self-care and love. Our ambition is to become the go-to destination for beauty in South Africa – where everyone can find something that enhance their self-expression.”
Hosted by multimedia entrepreneur Pamela Mtanga, guests were treated to an unforgettable afternoon filled with great food, good music and unique beauty experiences including relaxing services from brand partner, Amazi.
“We are redefining the future of beauty retail in South Africa,” said Simphiwe Pato, Head of Marketing for Fashion, Beauty, and Home.
Our Summer Escape event brings to life our goal to create a seamless, experience-driven environment for our customers in our beauty stores. A place where they can engage with beauty and skincare products in a more meaningful way and feel connected with the brand on a personal level, because beauty is inherently personal.”
