Stone Island’s FW24 Campaign Looks to Its “Community as a Form of Research”
Stone Island’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, “The Compass Inside,” has touched down, and along with it comes the next installment in the label’s “Community as a Form of Research” project, which looks to celebrate the imprint’s community and culture at large with eclectic, inquisitive campaigns.
Mixing the worlds of music, sport, art and all that exists between them, Stone Island’s latest sartorial delivery stars rock’n’roll legend Liam Gallagher, DJ and producer Peggy Gou, actor and curator Russell Tovey and skateboarder Sage Elsesser. Shot by David Sims, the campaign aims to define “exactly what makes the Stone Island community so distinct,” with a series of questions from curator and cultural critic Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Among the inquiries, Obrist asks Gallagher, “Do you prefer the desert, forest, mountain or beach?” The rocker responds, “Any of them as long as there’s a cheeky little bar.” Elsewhere, Obrist questions Gou, “What advice would you give your younger self?” The DJ says, “Don’t take rubbish from other people.”
Today’s portrait quartet will be followed by eight additional campaign images starring more members of Stone Island’s community, each of whom will answer more questions from Obrist. The brand’s president, Carlo Rivetti, will appear wearing the label’s famed President’s Kit, which was first unveiled in the imprint’s AW ‘998-’999 collection. Then, creator Philippe Starck, artist Alexandre Diop, parkour athlete Davide Garzetti, photographer Liam MacRae, music producer Axl Beats and graphic designer Yoshirotten will pose under Stone Island’s spotlight, rounding out the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 campaign circuit.
