Chelsea Revisits Its 1905-Released “Elton Blue” Jersey for Latest Third Kit

Chelsea Football Club and Nike have just presented their new third kit for the 2023/24 season and it sees the club step back in time as it references classic color patterns from its past.

The kit takes inspiration from the colors of the club’s first-ever jersey worn more than 118 years ago, covered in a delicate shade of light blue. With this being said, Chelsea’s new blue strip rounds off a trio of jerseys for the new campaign that comes in various shades of blue.

Now, this latest kit nods to the club’s “Elton Blue” jersey, a strip worn for only two seasons after the club’s founding in 1905. And while the pale-colored shirt was short-lived, the minty shade has continued to stand as a cornerstone for the club’s heritage, making a comeback in 1986/87 and once again this season.

Combining the classic shade with a modern design, the new kit arrives with accented black trims and collar. Additionally, the club crest and Nike Swoosh are also coated in black, with a subtle terrazzo pattern rounding off the understated design.

You can take a closer look at the new Chelsea third kit above and it is available to shop via the club’s official website now.
