Play in the Sand With New Balance’s 550 “Desert”
New Balance is continuing to keep its audience engaged. The footwear specialist has had a solid few months with consistent releases of its popular 2002r, 990v3, and 9060 silhouettes, but now NB is supplying the latest iteration of its 550 design. Releasing hot on the heels of its previous “Marquette” version, New Balance is now presenting the shoe in a “Desert” colorway as it looks to add a slice of heat to the sleek design for Fall/Winter 2022.
New Balance’s 550 was originally designed in 1989 by Steven Smith, but the design didn’t gain strong popularity until 2020. However, this “Desert” version of the shoe looks similar to its Aimé Leon Dore design with a soft leather build and canvas upper. The beige tones — reminiscent of the colors seen across the Sahara Desert — coat the upper, while splashes of brown can be spotted across the heel. The customary “N” and “550” branding is also included on the lateral quarter panel and across the shoe’s spine. Rounding off the design, stability clips are included across the outsole, complemented with a soft white hue for added effect.
You can have a closer look at the “Desert” 550 from New Balance above and it is available on the official New Balance website and select retailers in the coming weeks for $110 USD.
