KENZO Blends Military Styles and Tailoring for FW22 Drop 3
In January of this year, NIGO made his debut as KENZO’s new creative director for the brand’s Fall/Winter 2022 men’s and women’s collection. Held at the Galerie Vivienne in Paris, the collection was an exhibition of multifaceted design influences and tailoring. But since its debut, the Paris-based house has a couple of FW22 collection drops and the latest addition to the catalog is Drop 3.
Titled ‘Urban Uniforms,’ the newest release analyzes the discussion between military styles and elevated East/West tailoring. As such, one focal element of the drop is its jungle camo print that is seen across anoraks, padded jackets, pants, skirts, shorts and more in shades of colorways of soft green/beige/black, maroon/powder pink/deep red/pollen and black/navy blue/sky blue/white. Tailoring serves as the other focal element with three-button blazer suits, kimono-wrap tops and pants. Livening up tailored elements are plaid, pinstripe and solid-color designs fused with wool and cotton fabrications.
Finishing off the offering are military-style accessories like backpacks, crossbody bags, tote bags, belt bags and wallets. Even alongside Drop 3’s exploration of prints and tailoring, the offering further explores Nigo’s design notes that fuse the house’s Parisian legacy and Japanese heritage.
