The Nike Air Max TW 1 is Coming in “Racer Blue”
Nike will be introducing a new retro-inspired model to their assortment called the Air Max TW 1. Clearly pulling from the 1990s Tailwind series (hence the TW acronym), the accompanying ‘Racer Blue’ colourway also helps the latest design slot right into the era it borrows its cues from.
The thing with heritage-nodding sneakers is their references can sometimes be muddled so well that it’s hard to pinpoint particular elements to its originator. For example, this overall silhouette looks like it could’ve sat somewhere in the mid 90s around the same time as the Air Max Tailwind 2 and 3, but before the 4. The similarities to versions two and three are clear with the layered panelling and large heel Air units, but the ribbed reinforcements point towards Nike design language of the back end of the decade.
What’s also decidedly sympathetic to the period is the straightforward white and ‘Racer Blue’ colourway, which is jazzed up with the overspray details on the mid foot ribs and yellow pops on the hardware. What gives this model away as a 2022 debutant is its updated TW tongue logo and ‘pinwheel’ logo, denoting that there is some sort of recycled element to this shoe.
Expect to see the Air Max TW 1 in ‘Racer Blue’ and other assorted colours in coming months.
