Desert Camo Covers the Nike Dunk High
There’s something strangely nostalgic about this upcoming pair of Nike Dunk Highs. Its desert camouflage-clad upper harks back to an era when the Swoosh were pushing the model hard as a lifestyle option under the Nike Sportswear banner. That period, now over a decade past its heyday, can be remembered for its experimental executions that received varying degrees of success. So, in 2022, will a camo Dunk work?
It just might, if it’s pairs like this one. The entire upper is replaced with canvas, which is then covered in the aforementioned desert camo. Solid coloured Swooshes and laces break up the pattern a little while remaining tonal. Underfoot, a crisp white midsole is met by an ice sole – very much a mainstay of the NSW era – resulting in a clean finish. Other notable elements include the seemingly extra plush padding, which is perhaps a positive benefit of the canvas upper requiring some extra support. Being canvas, the eyelets also see some additional embroidered reinforcement around each hole to prevent premature tearing.
Keep an eye out for these Dunks (hiding in plain sight) at Nike retailers in coming months. Given the inspiration and general palette, it’s likely they’ll drop during the autumn season.
