Wood Wood Turns the adidas Originals Forum Low Into ’80s Tennis-Inspired Kicks
Multi-brand retailer and clothing label Wood Wood has dozens of collaborations under its belt, with each perfectly matching the label’s clean Copenhagen aesthetic. Now, it partners with adidas Originals on a trio of Forum Lows, giving them a preppy and collegiate theme that’s indebted to the 1980s.
The trio of Forums have been customized and reworked by Wood Wood’s co-founder Brian SS Jensen, who has taken the iconic ‘84 basketball silhouette and reimagined it as a tennis shoe. To do so, Wood Wood scraps the Forum’s signature velcro strap design in favor for a focus on laces, and updates the materials for something that’s more forgiving on the tennis court.
For example, a thick mesh has been used on the Forum’s underpanel, which serves as the base for the Three Stripes that work the mid-panel. Here, you’ll find the stripes in either “Electric Blue,” which happens to be a Wood Wood exclusive, or the more widely available tones of “Mustard Yellow” or “Burnt Orange.” These colors are echoed by the suede stripe that flows underneath the collar, while contrasting tones can be found on the heel clip and around the collar’s interior, matching the shoes’ tongue.
All three iterations come with an off white leather construction on the toe — which is perforated — and more leather on the toe bumper, sidewall, and heel. A gum sole and co-branding throughout rounds off the sneaker while paying notice to Wood Wood’s 20th anniversary.
The Wood Wood x adidas Originals Forum Low collaboration can be seen in the gallery above. It will drop at Wood Wood stores on July 13 before releasing globally on July 21.
