Up There’s New Balance 2002R Collab Celebrates “Backyard Legends”
For its latest collaboration, Melbourne, Australia, Up There has teamed up with New Balance on a special 2002R release. Dubbed the New Balance 2002R “Backyard Legends,” the collaboration forgoes the usual highlights of feats of athleticism, opting to celebrate the typical Aussie backyard barbeque.
Up There introduces the shoe by setting the scene, “A single afternoon might see you playing a few overs of cricket between flipping snags, swatting away mozzies and coping with relentless humidity — all the while grappling an ice-cold tinny in your spare hand! You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
With all of that in mind, we set out to design a shoe ready for the sport of suburban life. It’s got lightweight fused panels, lush suede, custom shrouds and even some quirky 2000s shoelaces. Everything comes together in a colorway that’s basically about nothing and they’re brimming with New Balance nerd easter eggs.”
The Up There x New Balance 2002R “Backyard Legends” features clean white mesh bases accented by bold green and purple overlays. Additional detailing comes in the form of reflective “N” logos, 2002R markings at the toes and “new balance AUS” at the tongues. Finishing up the design of the shoe are wavy white laces, white NERGY midsoles and multicolor rubber outsoles.
The Up There x New Balance 2002R “Backyard Legends” will be available July 15 in-store and online via Up There July 16.
