Soulland Introduces the “Spring Devil” With SS23 Pitti Uomo Show
Copenhagen-based Soulland presented its Spring/Summer 2023 collection in Florence, where it was the Special Project at the 102nd Pitti Uomo. The collection was showing against the rooftop auditorium of the Teatro Del Maggio, allowing the characters and motifs that inhabit the “Brain House” to freely roam.
The collection is the first chapter in a new Soulland trilogy, that will tell the story of an imaginary house — the “Brain House” — and its inhabitants. The first character to be introduced is the Spring Devil, who represents energy and fun.
Discussing this influence, Soulland founder and creative director Silas Oda Adler said:
“The more I create stories and build the collections around these stories, the more personal the collection becomes. It gives me the opportunity to dig even deeper into our universe and explore and play with Soulland in new ways.
The Spring Devil is a creature I think a lot of us can relate to. It’s not out to harm us, necessarily, but it feeds on getting us to do things that are on the edge. We all know that feeling, most of us have a Spring Devil around us, but also inside us.”
The collection sees Soulland continue its commitment to sustainable materials, with the basis coming from the label’s Family of Fabrics that all meet its sustainability requirements. Additionally, SS23 is Soulland’s first gender free collection as all pieces are designed without a specific gender in mind. Throughout the collection, pieces come in a range of fits including tight, straight, loose and oversized, all designed for the wearer’s personal preference.
The Spring Devil reappears throughout the collection’s graphics and artworks, alongside new collage designs and a deconstructed paisley print. Soulland has also continued its collaboration with Li-Ning — with the Yun You Slay slide, Exceed Infinity, Shadow and Jiang silhouettes — as well as working with Ace & Tate for the first installment of a long-term eyewear collaboration.
