Mountain Research and Reebok Officially Unveil Their Club C II Mid Collaboration
Reebok’s consistent focus on Club C – especially in the collaborative space – pushes their partners to repackage the model in distinct ways. One such partner is Japan’s Mountain Research, who have not only chosen the slightly less common mid version, but also added a unique lace shroud.
As the classic tennis shoe, I’ve wanted to work on Club C for some time,’ commented Mountain Research founder, Setsumasa Kobayashi. ‘It also reminds me of 80s hip hop scenes where everyone wore white sneakers, which I always loved.’
The brand’s take on the model sees that clean white finish with blue trim keeping to OG conventions. However, the conspicuous padded shroud is sure to catch some stares. Fans of the model will recognise the perforations correspond to those found on the tongue of the shoe. Additional Mountain Research branding is displayed at the top of this shroud.
‘The idea was to create something basic yet decorative,’ continued Kobayashi. ‘The minimalistic look is meant to correspond to the strict tennis club dress codes of the era.’
The Mountain Research x Reebok Club C Mid will release via Mountain Research stores on June 10, followed by a wider drop at select Reebok stockists on June 17.
