The Balenciaga x adidas Collection is Now Available
This past weekend, Balenciaga rang the proverbial bell at the New York Stock Exchange and showed off their SS23 collection on the trading floor. The offerings consisted of everything from smart wool overcoats to slouchy hoodies and kinky latex garments – one of this season’s hottest fashion trends, both literally and figuratively – but nothing caused more of a stir than the full reveal of their co-created collection with adidas. As the fashion world was still trying to wrap its collective head around the show in its aftermath, Balenciaga dropped another bombshell: the apparel and footwear from the Balenciaga x adidas collection were already available for pre-order.
The sneakers in question are present in a trio of different styles. There are two takes on the ultra-chunky Triple S, one dressed in adidas Originals’ signature light blue shade and equipped with white Three Stripe detailing, the other offering a classic mix of white with a black Three Stripe graphic for what seems to be a nod to the classic Superstar. Accompanying this plump duo is a streamlined Speed Trainer that adds some flair to its simple black and white colour scheme by providing stripes and a co-branded hit on its collar. There was also a destroyed Stan Smith that touched the runway, but that hasn’t been made available for sale at the time of writing.
Besides the kicks, there are also 30 pieces of co-created apparel that include tracksuits to jean shorts, facemasks, soccer jerseys and even a T-shirt with the NYSE logo. The prices for these pieces range from $210 for a pair of socks to $5,500 for a black hooded bull skin jacket. Shoes fall in the middle of this price range, with the Triple S retailing for $1,100 and the Speed Trainer priced at $995.
This new partnership continues adidas’ high-fashion tear. They’ve also joined forces with both Prada and Gucci recently, making Balenciaga the third piece of a collaborative luxury fashion triumvirate that even Jacobim Mugatu couldn’t compete with. On the Balenciaga side, it was another viral moment for them after their earth-shaking Fortnite and The Simpsons collaborations, as well as the perfect time to announce that they’ll now be accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment.
If you’re looking to get your hands on any of the kicks or apparel from the collection, they’re available for pre-order now on the Balenciaga website, and will ship out later this year. Pre-orders run until May 29.
