ASICS’ GEL-Lyte III and GT-II Head to School in the ‘Academic Scholar 2.0’ Pack

ASICS first released an ‘Academic Scholar’ pack back in 2019, and now the pack is entering its sophomore year with new iterations of the GEL-Lyte III and the GT-II. Inspired by the style of ’90s prep wear, each classic pair takes on an elevated colour scheme and premium materials, making for a duo of kicks that are elite in inspiration but accessible in look!

The GEL-LYTE III is the first sneaker in the pack to register for classes, and it uses hunter green as its primary colour. Accents are supplied by a matte purple (pretty much navy) shade, as well as hits of soft yellow and white. Second in line is the GT-II, which flips the script by using matte purple for a base tone, then applying hunter green, yellow and white for its secondary shades.

Each pair is built from pigskin suede and supple leather, with micro-perforations supplying both style and breathability. It’s also worth noting that where the above-mentioned 2019 pack mostly focused on present-day silhouettes like the GEL-Kayano 26 and GEL-Nimbus 21 (though it did have a GEL-Kayano 5), this pair brings its throwback inspiration further with the use of heritage silhouettes.

Expect the GEL-LYTE III OG to release on April 1 and the GT-II to drop in June via select retailers.
