Glenn Martens’ Diesel Decks Its Prototype Sneaker In a Bevy of New Colorways

Glenn Martens‘ Diesel is the moment, and for any Y2K-obsessed fashionphile its all-new selection of Prototype Sneakers is a must.

While we have seen the pair in its inaugural colorway of “White/Red/Navy,” which launched at the back-end of 2021, Diesel now serves up the chunky early-2000s-inspired design in a myriad of new hues. For example, options now range from white or black offerings to bolder shades of orange, teal and blue, while a particular standout is the gray iteration that’s sectioned by its yellow touches.

The polyester, polyurethane and rubber composition makes the asymmetrically-designed sneaker naturally avant-garde and pushes the ’00s aesthetic more into a high-end designer realm. This is mostly thanks to the combination of the synthetic mesh underlay that serves as the base for rubber nodules growing all over the shoe’s upper, and the sculptural heel clip element that leads the eye down to the heel itself. Here, the signature “D” emblem — as seen on the 1DR bag, for example — hits up the heel, while a complex outsole and simplistic block embroidered branding on the tongue round out the intriguingly nostalgic design.

Diesel’s Prototype Sneaker can be seen in various colorways above, and all can be bought from Diesel’s website and stores now. The sneaker retails for R 9 000, and is available in sizes for all.
